Sweet Boy.

Noah came downstairs today dressed in orange shorts and a green shirt. He must have read the look on my face because before any words could come out of my mouth he said, "I know I don't match today...but I'm still a nice boy." He recieved a big hug and kiss from his mother. It was one of the moments that I think to myself, 'how else can I ruin my children?' By the way, he wore the heck out of his green and orange ensemble ALL day long and he looked great!

He is a nice boy and a sweet boy and a colorful boy - that's why we love him so much!

Way to go on letting him just "be" in his colorful outfit. I would have had a hard time with tolerating that one all day long -it would have bothered me, control-freak that I am. Although I must say that during this summer I've been letting Will do this, cause hey, it's summer. I am much more particular when he's going to school. Half the time they're running around in just underwear, or half their pajamas or something if we're not going anywhere. Less laundry for me!

Will came out yesterday morning wearing sweatpants and a sweatshirt (that were in an extra drawer of fall/winter things.) He said, "I'm wearing my comfy clothes today because I'm not going anywhere." So he wore them up until church at 4:30, when his dad convinced him to put something cooler on, for going out in the 90 degree weather.

I think it's huge when they can pick out clothes and get dressed by themselves. Sam's so not there yet. He can dress himself, he just chooses not to, and half the time when he does it's all on backwards, and you've got to redo it anyway. But how else do they learn?

What a wonderful story! I remember when I did adoption work, an adoptive mom freaking out when her Kindergartener tried to dress himself. She owned a children's clothing store and was convinced that it would drive business away if people saw her son with mismatched clothing. Unfortunately she did not handle it as well as you did!
