Big McCarragher.

Noah is excited by my finished product. He says it will help him remember how to spell his name.

It's so funny that you wrote that about Noah. I almost asked you on the last post if ANY of your kids could spell their full names yet and then I thought better of it, but since you brought it up....

Noah is still struggling a little. Poor kids!Joe learned it by singing it to the tune of the mickey mouse club song, but of course kids these days don't know that tune!!!

Your kids could learn to spell their last name the way I did ... break it down into three little words: car rag her. The Mc is the easy part.

I just asked Amy how she learned how to spell her last name, and she said, "I remember I used to cry...." She doesn't remember how she learned, except that there was "a lot of repeated stuff." Dunno if that helps you at all.

I still like breaking it down into three little words with a Mc at the beginning. Worked for me!

Amy says she "just knew there were 11" letters. That's why she preferred "Amy" over her official name of "Amanda" -- because that made it only 14.

By the way, she just sang it to the Mickey Mouse song, got really excited and said, "that would have helped!"

Wish I'd known that about 20 years ago! Would have made life easier for both Shannon AND Amy!
