It's Been A Rough 24 Hours.

I have a dirty little secret. My daughter is almost 3 and she has still been using a pacifier at night. (Sigh.) I feel much better now. Free-er. A weight has been lifted. I wish I would have taken a picture of the thing. We were down to one left. It was FUNKNASTY. It was holey and chewed up and quite possibly moldy on the inside...and she loved it. If she were a first child or an only child, any good mother would NEVER have let her daughter put something that looked like that anywhere near her mouth. But, she's not. She hasn't gotten any weird illnesses or unexplainable rashes, but we decided not to push our luck. So, we threw it away. While I was at Wal-Mart, I ran through the baby section and secretly grabbed a package of plugs. I was feeling all shameful and embarassed. What if someone sees me and knows I'm buying MORE plugs for my almost 3 year old! I tried to give her one last night for bedtime and she would have NOTHING to do with it! She wanted her old nasty back. Lots of tears, screams, one puke/cough incident, and she finally fell asleep about 10. That doesn't sound too late, but it felt like...a lifetime. She got up once in the middle of the night and asked for her pacifier. I went in and comforted her and left her room as she screamed at the top of her lungs, "I CAN'T CLOSE MY EYES!!" Naptime today was a little rough, but she never asked for 'you know what'. Tonight, at bedtime, she overcompensated by filling her bed with 6 babies, 2 stuffed dogs, 3 blankies, and a life-size Dora, but still no talk of the p-word, as Noah calls it. Wish us luck.

Potty Dilema.

So, for several days now, I've tried to get Lily to wear 'big girl' panties for just a short amount of time. I've even pulled out the big guns and brought out the little mermaid panties. No go. She insists, "It too small." "It not fit." "I don't like it" "my diaper". Hello! If you can say all that...you can pee in a toilet!! I think if I just get them on her and get her distracted for a while, she'll forget about them. So far, she's just taken them back off, opened the closet and thrown a diaper at me in a not-so-nice way. This afternoon, I hear a little voice yell at me, "Mom! Sumpin' gwoss up here!" I meet her at the top of the stairs, naked from the waist down. (Her, not me!!). She leads me to the bathroom and points to the floor. There lays a wet diaper and a big poop laying beside it. I shut my eyes for a few seconds where I go to the beach with my pina colada. When I open them again, the boys are standing there inspecting everything. You know boys, they like a good poop story. They discuss the smell and the nastiness of it all when Noah asks, "Are you going to pick it up with your bare hands, Mom???" He is very disappointed to see that I use T.P. Did he REALLY think I would use my bare hands? BOYS! Well, I will keep at it. I can rest in the knowledge that she will not be wearing diapers for her graduation day, hopefully, so I will try not to sweat the small stuff.

Uh, Oh.

Is that a sign of creative genius that this little one sees a blank canvas everywhere she looks? The TV screen? Her dresser? The kitchen table? Chairs? I will start purchasing the Magic Eraser in bulk.

Spring Pictures.

Yesterday, was spring picture day at school. I asked Noah to give me an example of how he smiled for his picture...

wow. I think I'll need to order an 11x13 for sure! Ha Ha. I think I'll send a copy to our dentist for his records as well. I asked Jackson to do the same thing and this is what I got. He's no fun!

Girl Time.

This afternoon, we had the neighbors over to play, a set of 6 year -old twins. The boy and Noah are buddies, and his sister came along today. Lily and Kailee played together and she was in awe. She held her hand everywhere they went and was very posessive of "my Kawee". At one point, Kailee came downstairs to see what the boys were up to and I hear a shriek from upstairs, "You get back here. Right. Now." Okay, so perhaps we need to work on the manners a bit. All evening long I heard "my girl this" & "my girl that". "Where my girl go?" I finally took her to the window and pointed to her house, where she stood there awhile and whispered, "my Kawee".

FYI.

For those who are interested, I'm still periodically wiping chocolate ooze out of Lily's nose and it is Friday night.
